Alan who?

So who is this Alan character, anyway?!  Well, it’s me.  Why am I allowed the privilege of writing on the farm site?  Because Sara thinks I’m cool.  Hopefully, you’ll think so, too.

My name is Alan Strubinger and I’m a native of Jim Thorpe.  I live on Broadway in the home where my Grandmother raised my Dad and where my parents raised us.  My brother, George, lives in New Columbus and my sister, Lorraine, lives in Chattanooga, TN with her husband and three kids.  I’ve moved around a lot in my 34 years before finally deciding to move back to Jim Thorpe last year.

Even though I have a degree in agriculture from the University of Delaware, my professional background is primarily in real estate.  However, I left “corporate America” in 2006 to pursue a simpler existence… and moved to Chattanooga to work in an artisan bread bakery called Niedlov’s Breadworks.  I have been baking bread since college but Niedlov’s is where my love of baking truly took off.

Other than that I’m a simple guy.  I like camping, walking, hiking, kayaking, reading, cooking, and of course… baking.  My dream is to one day build my own little sustainable cabin with my own two hands (and maybe the hands of a few close friends).  I’m a minimalist at heart who likes a quiet life and to keep things simple.

Well, that’s me.  Stay tuned for whatever’s in my head.  (As the voices in his head say, “Boy, this ought to be good!”)
